For 41 years, from 1949 to 1990, this small city was the capital of Germany of the 'West.In 1990, after a parliamentary decision taken with a very small majority, he had to give this honor in Berlin. Just 20 minutes from Bonn, in the hilly region of the Siebengebirge, on the banks of the Rhine River, the lovely town of Königswinter offers some worthy attractions of a visit.

What to see:

The Drachenfels, the castle ruins where the legend says that Siegfried has faced the dragon (hence the name Dragon Drachen = FELS = rock); It is what remains of the castle erected here in 1138 about a strategic location for the defense of the city of Cologne.
Drachenfels is a ruin, there are only a few walls and there is nothing to see in itself, though near or stopping in a nice restaurant with a modern style, with a panoramic terrace overlooking the valley; here you can make a full meal or simply order something to drink.


Castle Drachenburg, which is located further downstream from the Drachenfels, which was built in 1800, once the private residence of a noble family, now a resort with rooms for receptions and weddings.
 Inside you can be visited all the rooms with period furnishings, and especially worth visiting the fabulous gardens and walkways along the exterior of the castle, which will give you fantastic views of the Rhine and the surrounding region. The entrance to the castle is a fee (6 euro for adults).

Per 41 anni, dal 1949 al 1990, questa piccola città è stata la capitale della Germania dell' Ovest. 
Nel 1990, dopo una decisione del parlamento presa con una maggioranza molto esigua, ha dovuto cedere questo onore a Berlino. Alcuni uffici governativi sono rimasti a Bonn anche dopo il trasloco di parlamento e governo a Berlino. E ci sono tuttora ben 19 organizzazioni delle Nazioni Unite che hanno uffici a Bonn. Ma Bonn non ha sofferto molto del fatto di non essere più capitale, forse è addirittura un bene per la città non essere più conosciuta solamente come capitale, perché la città ha delle radici che vanno ben oltre. Bonn può offrire molto al turista e proprio a partire dal 1990 la città ha cominciato a curare e valorizzare le sue tradizioni e i suoi monumenti.  
Con il risultato che oggi afflusso turistico è molto superiore a una volta - Bonn conta ben 9 milioni di visitatori all'anno. La città offre inoltre spunti culturali e storici di notevole spessore, a partire dal vecchio municipio, lo splendido castello dei principi elettori (oggi sede della prestigiosa università della città e la casa natale di Ludwig van Beethoven. Ma dopo il 1990 sono stati costruiti anche dei nuovi musei che sono tra i più visitati di tutta la Germania. Proprio il nuovo ruolo dà a Bonn l'occasione di mettere nella giusta luce le sue qualità e le sue bellezze.

Ad appena 20 minuti da Bonn, nella regione collinare del Siebengebirge, sulle sponde del fiume Reno, la graziosa cittadina di Königswinter offre alcune attrazioni meritevoli di una visita. 

Cosa vedere:

Il Drachenfels, le rovine del castello in cui la leggenda dice che Sigfrido abbia affrontato il drago (da qui il nome Drachen=drago fels=roccia); è ciò che rimane del castello eretto qui nel 1138 circa in posizione strategica per la difesa della città di Colonia.
Drachenfels è un rudere, sono rimaste solo poche mura e non c’è nulla da visitare in sè, vicino però potrete fermarvi in un bel ristorante dallo stile moderno, con terrazza panoramica sulla vallata; qui è possibile fare un pranzo completo oppure semplicemente ordinare qualcosa da bere.

Il castello di Drachenburg, che si trova più a valle rispetto al Drachenfels, la cui costruzione risale alla fine del 1800, un tempo residenza privata di una famiglia nobile, oggi adibita a resort con sale per ricevimenti e matrimoni.
 All’interno sono visitabili tutte le stanze con gli arredi d’epoca, e soprattutto meritano la visita i favolosi giardini e camminamenti lungo gli esterni del castello, che vi regaleranno viste fantastiche sul Reno e sulla regione circostante. L’ingresso al castello è a pagamento (6 euro per gli adulti).
