This beautiful town situated on the Amalfi coast is considered the Montecarlo of our country, not for the Casino and the unbridled luxury, but for the way in which it was built: perched on a hill.
Pearl of the Amalfi Coast, is a very charming and enchanting place. The city, in fact, was already the Roman Empire, a place of highly coveted holiday resort: here, in fact, were found in 2004, the remains of a villa dating back to that period. Its subtropical climate, so really mild, allows nighter summer holidays (with a heat bearable thanks to the refreshing breeze), but also thinking of spend a few days during the winter season, this time the temperatures in fact never fall under the six degrees.
Positano is a vertical city, completely perpendicular to the sea and it is crossed by a main road and a number of "steps", true symbol of the city, leading to the sea and within which there are numerous delightful shops that sell both products artisanal and souvenirs, must for tourists.
Positano is also particularly important for its fashion indeed renowned throughout the world are the numerous linen dresses. Aside from fashion, however, Positano is one of the most famous seaside resorts of the Italian peninsula.

The beaches
The most important beaches are the " Spiaggia Grande" and the "Fornillo": both can be
reached on foot. By sea instead you can reach the beaches of La Porta, Arienzo and San Pietro Laureano, I suggest you not to miss.


The smells and the food of Positano
Yellow lemon trees, the deep green of the countryside, the blue sea. On the Amalfi Coast cuisine and the territory are linked inseparably.
The stunning beauty of its location, its art treasures have a background of flavors, aromas and fragrances which become an integral part of this enchantment.
Lemons uniquely mark the landscape of the Amalfi Coast through the terraced crops, which here are "gardens" calls, and they are also protagonists of many recipes: not only the famous limoncello liqueur or sweets as the baba, the delights, the ice cream but also the ravioli of ricotta cheese flavored with grated rind until the slices of smoked mozzarella among the lemon leaves.


Excursions
A excursion that I advice is in Paestum, only two hours away from Positano.
Paestum is an ancient city of Magna Grecia called by the founders Poseidonia in honor of Poseidon, but most devoted to Hera and Athena. In the past it was also known as Pesto.
The Amphitheatre, the Forum and other public areas are interesting but the 3 Greek temples, stone, majestic in their essential Doric style are exceptional and see them in the light of the sunset and a  
magical experience. Tours are from 8.30 to 19.30 and with a ticket that costs only a little less than 10 Euros you can 'get even in the Archaeological museum alongside which has a fine collection of mosaics and of vintage vessels of the temples (500/600 a.c.). Positano - Costa Amalfitana

Questa splendida cittadina situata sulla costiera amalfitana è considerata la Montecarlo del nostro Paese, non per i Casinò e per il lusso sfrenato, ma per il modo in cui è stata costruita: arroccata su un'altura.
Perla della Costiera Amalfitana, è un luogo davvero suggestivo ed incantevole. La città, infatti, è stata, già dall'epoca dell'Impero Romano, un luogo di villeggiatura molto ambito: qui, infatti, furono rinvenuti nel 2004, i resti di una villa che risale a tale periodo. Il suo clima subtropicale, quindi davvero mite, consente di trascorrerci le vacanze estive ( con un caldo sopportabile grazie alla rinfrescante e piacevole brezza) , ma anche di pensare di trascorrervi qualche giorno durante la stagione invernale, in questo periodo infatti le temperature non scendono mai al di sotto dei sei gradi.
Positano è una città verticale, completamente perpendicolare al mare ed è quindi attraversata da una via principale e da numerose "scalinate", vero simbolo della città, che portano al mare ed all'interno delle quali vi sono numerosi e deliziosi negozi che vendono sia prodotti artigianali che souvenir, tappa imperdibile per turisti.
Positano risulta essere anche particolarmente importante per la sua moda infatti rinomati in tutto il mondo sono i numerosi abiti in lino.  Oltre alla moda, tuttavia, Positano è uno dei centri balneari più rinomati della penisola italiana.


Le spiaggie
Le spiagge più importanti sono la Spiaggia Grande e quella del Fornillo: entrambe possono essere
raggiunte a piedi.  Via mare invece si possono raggiungere le spiagge di La Porta, Arienzo e San Pietro Laurito, che vi consiglio di non perdere.


I profumi e il cibo di Positano
Il giallo dei limoni, il verde intenso delle campagne, il blu del mare. In Costiera Amalfitana la cucina e il territorio sono legati in modo indissolubile.
La bellezza favolosa delle sue località, i suoi tesori d'arte hanno un sottofondo di sapori, aromi e profumi che diventano parte integrante di questo incanto.
I limoni segnano in maniera unica il paesaggio della Costiera Amalfitana attraversato dalle coltivazioni a terrazzamento, che qui sono chiamate "giardini", e sono anche protagonisti di tante ricette tipiche: non solo il celebre liquore limoncello o i dolci come il babà, le delizie, i gelati ma anche i ravioli di ricotta insaporiti con la scorza grattugiata fino alle fette di mozzarella affumicate tra le foglie di limone.


Escursioni
Un escursione che consiglio è quella a Paestum, a sole due ore da Positano.
Paestum è un'antica città della Magna Grecia chiamata dai fondatori Poseidonia in onore di Poseidone, ma devotissima a Era e Atena. In passato era nota anche come Pesto.
L' Anfiteatro, il Foro e le altre aree pubbliche sono interessanti ma i 3 templi greci, in pietra, maestosi nel loro stile dorico essenziale sono eccezionali e vederli alla luce del tramonto e' un' esperienza magica. Le visite sono dalle 8.30 alle 19.30 e con un biglietto solo che costa poco meno di 10 euro si puo' entrare anche nel Museo Archeologico a fianco che possiede una bella collezione di mosaici e vasi dell epoca dei templi ( 500/600 a.c.). E' incluso dall' Unesco nel Patrimonio dell Umanita'.
