Capital of the south and proud to have inspired the French national anthem, Marseille was crowned the capital of culture in 2013. It has a lively character, it is a multiethnic city, and has the reputation of being (with Paris) one of the cities with the highest crime rate . In my opinion I do not consider it so dangerous because I turned along with a friend walking and using the means of transport and did not happen anything special.


WHAT TO SEE:

Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde

Those visiting Marseille, must necessarily see this Basilica in neo-Byzantine style. In addition there  
is a train leaving from the port into the old center of Marseille and up to a hill where exactly is the Basilica.

The hill gives 360-degree panoramas of the city. The church tower is topped by a golden statue of 9.7m height of the Virgin Mary on a pedestal 12 meters high.

The Vieux - Port and MuCEM

The Vieux - Port is the heart of Marseille and has a large oriental market, always full of people. To provide shade there is the famous "Ombrière" the architect Norman Foster, as a large horizontal mirror. The harbor is surrounded by many restaurants, cafes and bars.


The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (Musée des civilizations de l'Europe et de
la Méditerranée, abbreviated MuCEM) is dedicated to the preservation, study, presentation and mediation of heritage anthropological related to the European and Mediterranean. I found a pretty interesting museum. The property is large modern structure, strictly black, which juts out into the sea next to the Fort Saint-Jean, and one can see passing on the coastal road.

Palais Longchamp
Beautiful building, designed and built to celebrate the construction of the Marseille Channel created to facilitate the transport of water into the city, inside the Longchamp park. The building has two staircases to the sides and within these is a pond whose water comes from a waterfall that originates inside the open gallery. Now it contains the Museum of Natural History on the one hand and the Museum of Fine Arts on the other. A beautiful building much visited.

Plage de la Pointe Rouge

Plage de la Pointe Rouge in Marseille is the largest sandy beach in Marseille. It situated behind
artificial beaches of Prado, in the west of the beach you can enjoy water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing and motorways. Near to this beach you can find many restaurants, bars, pubs.

Capitale del sud e fiera di aver ispirato l'inno 
nazionale francese, Marsiglia fu incoronata capitale della cultura nel 2013. Ha un carattere vivace, è una città multietnica e ha la fama di essere insieme a Parigi una delle città con più alto tasso di criminalità. Io, personalmente  non la considero così pericolosa perchè l'ho girata insieme ad una mia amica andando a piedi e usando i mezzi e non è accaduto nulla di particolare.



COSA VEDERE:

Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde

Chi visita Marsiglia, deve per forza vedere questa basilica in stile neobizantino . Inoltre c'è un trenino che parte dal porto attraversando il centro storico di Marsiglia e arriva fino a una collina dove appunto si trova la Basilica.

La collina dà panoramiche  a 360 gradi della città. Il campanile della chiesa è coronato da una statua dorata 9,7 milioni di altezza della Vergine Maria su un piedistallo alta 12 metri.


Il Vieux - Port e il MuCEM

Il Vieux- Port è il cuore di Marsiglia e ha come un grande mercato orientale, sempre pieno di gente. Per fornire ombra c'è la famosa "Ombrière" del architetto Norman Foster, come un grandissimo specchio orizzontale. Il porto è circondato da numerosi ristoranti, caffè e bar.

Il Museo delle civiltà dell'Europa e del Mediterraneo (Musée des civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée, abbreviato MuCEM) è dedicato alla conservazione, lo studio, la presentazione e la mediazione del patrimonio antropologico relativo all'area europea e mediterranea.
L' ho trovato un museo abbastanza interessante. La struttura è grande struttura moderna, rigorosamente nera, che si protende verso il mare a fianco di Fort Saint-Jean e si vede bene passando sulla strada litoranea.

Palais Longchamp

Splendida costruzione, progettata e realizzata per festeggiare la costruzione del Canale di Marsiglia nato per agevolare il trasporto delle acque fino in città, all'interno del parco Longchamp. Il palazzo ha due scalinate ai lati e all'interno di queste si trova un laghetto la cui acqua arriva da una cascata che ha origine all'interno del loggiato. Attualmente ospita il Museo di Storia Naturale da un lato ed il Museo delle Belle Arti dall'altro. Una bellissima costruzione molto visitata.

Plage de la Pointe Rouge

Plage de la Pointe Rouge a Marsiglia è la più grande spiaggia di sabbia a Marsiglia. Situata dopo le spiagge artificiali di Prado, Nella parte ovest della spiaggia si possono praticare sport acquatici come il windsurf e kitesurf. .Vicino a questa spiaggia si possono trovare molti ristoranti, bar, pub.
